With Luca’s latest EP ‘OVO’ via his imprint out now now on Traxsource – we asked the the man himself to answer 3 Questions share 2 Track favourites & 1 latest Release in our 321 feature.
1) Hey Luca, how are you and what are you up to?
I’m fine thanks! Been so busy with the summer tour: I’ve played in some really beautiful places such as Aruba, Mexico where the nature is just amazing. I’ll be heading to South America for some gigs in Lima, Bogota and Buenos Aires… I really love the vibe on that continent! Next week Ibiza.
2) The topic for today is your latest EP on your own label Endless, tell us about the musical direction of the label and this release.
OVO is the sixth ENDLESS release… on the label I’m producing my own music and the music of artists that I love… OVO has a very special sound with which I wanted to challenge myself. It marks another step forward and this is what’s so great about ENDLESS: I never know where it will take me .. I grew-up listening to a wide variety of music covering many different styles and this has influenced the way I see the label and the choice of artists. The next releases will be ALL IS WELL and EDUARDO DE LA CALLE, then it will be the turn of EMBASSY OF JOY, a musically interesting project coming out of Maui, Hawaii.
3) Last question, what is your studio set-up like?
To be honest I consider that the bulk of my studio is in my head! My actual set-up is pretty simple. Mainly I work with the softwares and try to do a good job with the plugins like Waves that can help make the difference. I use Ableton, Maschine, Korg Electribe mx, Spark by Arturia, TR 808 Roland, always depending on the sound I’m looking for at any given time. As far as monitors are concerned I don’t think I’ll ever let go of my Genelec 8040.
2 Trax I’m feeling right now:
Eduardo De La Calle – Somewhere In Your Arms
Eduardo De La Calle is an incredible find: of course I already knew his work, but in the last 2 years I have grown to love his sound. He is very sensitive both as a producer and above all as a human being and this sensitivity permeates his music with its singular atmospheres. The music, just like himself, is special. “Somewhere In Your Arms” is a masterpiece!
Bushwalking (Johannes Brecht Remix)
Johannes Brecht is elegant and at the same time he knows how to get people moving on the dance floor, His work is never pedestrian and can include forays into jazz without forgetting the darker club atmospheres.. I’m in love with this remix!
