2017 sees Ushuaia Take Control of Space Ibiza

A real body blow for the thousands of house heads that flock to Ibiza every year as the news breaks that Ushuaïa will be taking control of Space Ibiza from 2017. Carl Cox has gone into detail about why 2016 will be the last year at Space for his internationally renowned party Music is Revolution.

Carl’s decision to leave Space also coincides with the news that long-term Space owner Pepe Rosello’s contract is also up at the club in 2016. Carl even went as far as jokingly saying that once Ushuaïa take over Space, he would:

‘only play the venue if he was offered a million Euros, playing all the records from the Beatport top ten’

in a swipe towards Ushuaïa’s corporate identity and residencies from the likes of David Guetta, Hardwell and Avicii, Carl continued:

‘My heart tells me I will not ever do that [play for the money] – because if Pepe’s not there, I am not there. We grew up together, we’ve been all the way through this together, and we’re going to finish together. And I’m quite happy about that, because it means we leave the legacy of a club that made a difference.’

It’s great to see Carl Cox sticking to his house music principles over this huge change on the Ibiza clubbing landscape. We at Traxsource salute him, as house music was never supposed to be about corporate branding. House is a feeling…
