Deepshakerz, How To Crack A Safe.

The Italian duo of Domy Berardino and Mirco Sonatore make up The Deepshakerz who are internationally reknowned for serving up the perfect blend of musical styles, whether it be vocal house, afro-beats or 90s influenced tech. Their music has led to them gaining heavyweight support from the likes of Groove Armada, David Morales, Loco Dice, Dubfire, Riva Starr, Mark Knight, Roger Sanchez, 2000 and One, Pirupa, Luciano, Shinedoe, Tube & Berger, Quentin Harris, Stefano Noferini, Chocolate Puma, Sandy Rivera and many more….

Their latest Safe Music project entitled Old Vibe, Pt.4 is out now EXCLUSIVELY on Traxsource, so we reached out the Italian duo to find out more about their label, as we crack the Safe with Deepshakerz.

Hi fellas, not long ago we were chatting about the launch of Safe Records. Can you fill us in on the history of the label.

Well, with our own imprint we were waiting for the right moment to launch as the music business is already saturated with music and labels. We wanted to wait until we felt we had reached the right music ‘maturity’, so we founded ‘Safe Music’ at the end of 2013 in Andria, South Italy. The label is committed to promoting quality music from established producers as well as up and coming talent.

What’s the imprint’s musical direction, mission and overall goal?

Our main goal for the label is to discover as much talent as possible and try to push them and their music the world. Safe Music is all about eclectic music styles. From the very roots of dance music; melodic, deep vibes all the way to the more club, underground sound. It’s very important to us that we fully believe in every release.

Tell us about the latest VA entitled ‘Old Vibe Part 4’.

The current release is the fourth volume of our Various Series: ‘Old Vibe Part 4’, which includes the best of that old school style and vibe. Tracks selected by us, that we simply just love. At the moment, we are very focused on that really proper underground, groovy, UK/London club style sound for the label. And upcoming on Safe in December and January will see a single Ep By Javi Alvado (28 Dec) and Apollo 84 (18 Jan) so make sure to look out for that!

Describe running a record label today – what keeps you motivated?

This is a very interesting question because 15 years ago it was A LOT different than today. 90% of the music business is now digital, but I imagine managing a label during the strictly vinyl days was very challenging. Now, anyone can open a digital label really easily, but you need your true heart and soul in the project for it to succeed. It needs a lot of passion, and patience.

How do you A&R a record for the label, what are you listening when signing a track?

We are very picky about what we want when looking for releases on the label. A lot of guys send us their music and we listen to all of it. We are always looking for the right music to reflect the label’s ethos. Something that we can imagine being played in the clubs, on the radio, but most importantly in our DJ set!

What’s next for Safe Records AND Deepshakerz?

For 2016, we have a whole host of new music from some hot, new rising talents that we have discovered. We are also starting a new sub-label called ‘Safe Ltd.’ and we will also be releasing our very first official Deepshakerz Album. Stay tuned for loads more great music in 2016!
