6 awesome spots you need to visit in Croatia this year

The festival season is fast approaching, and many folk are deciding to flock to sunnier climes to get their festival fix. And understandably so. In the UK you run the risk of paying out a huge wad of cash, only to be faced with a deluge of water that even Noah and his trusty ark would struggle with.

One destination that has long been at the forefront of the discerned dance music lovers mind is Croatia. With a coastline that stretches out over 1,000 kilometres, glorious turquoise waters that lap at white sandy beaches, backed by lush green trees, and medieval architecture, it’s not hard to see why. Even legendary label Defected will be setting up camp there for the first time this year, where we’ll be joining forces for a special party.

With this in mind we’ve handpicked the ones that we think are the cream of the sun-drenched crop.

Selectors

When? 1st – 5th September

Where? The Garden Resort, Tisno

Fly to? Zadar or Split.

How much? €120. But be aware this doesn’t include the nightly shenanigans at the famed Barbarella’s.

Who? The musical programme will be provided by Interstellar Funk, Tape DJs, The Black Madonna, Oceanic, Pender Street Steppers, and Dekmantel Soundsystem.

Selectors was founded by Thomas Martojo and Casper Tielrooij the brains behind Dekmantel. The focus here is “on the art of DJing, celebrating the extraordinary DJs that have turned collecting and playing music into an art form”. The musical theme here seems to swing more towards the funk and boogie side of dance. A welcome change to the usual house heavy line-ups we’re accustomed to.
