Supernova take us Inside their 'Revelation" EP
Italian stallions / Lapsus Music head honchos Supernova take us ‘Inside the Track’ to share a few production secrets about their new release “Revelation”.
Congratulations on your new release. How is it being received in your sets? & How are other club DJs responding to the release?
Thanks guys. We are really happy about this new release on Lapsus. Been testing it since a while now and all the tracks are always getting great dance floor feedbacks. We got good support also from the likes of Chus & Ceballos, Leon, Dennis Ferrer, Sasha, Luna City Express, Karotte and many more…
Tell us more about the track. What was the main inspiration behind it and what prompted the musical direction on this?
The inspiration for this EP comes from many of the stuff we have played back in the 80/90’s at the beginning of our Dj career. We’ve tired to work with some samples taken from our old school vinyl collections and they perfectly fit what we had in mind.
Production wise, what is it about the track that makes it work?
Basically, what we feel that make most of these tracks work is their solid raw house grooves worked out with the 90’s inspiration samples. We like the vibe that this EP bring on the dance floor when we play any of it’s tracks. The dance floor is solid and you can see a smile on many people’s faces. :)
What is the one machine, program, sound, drum machine, technique that characterizes your sound?
Hard to say that. Machines or program are not enough to characterize a sound, it’s more about how you use them. Let’s say we like analog keyboards more than plugins for sounds, but first of all we always look for solid grooves and rolling basses in our records.
What is the one piece of kit that you simply cannot do without?
Actually we love our Prophet V, Minimoog Voyager keyboards and the original Roland 909 drum machine we just fixed and added to the setup. Our API and Dangerous summing mixers are also really important during the mixdown for us as well as the Audioscope analyzer. While plugins wise we love many of the UAD ones especially Dangerous BAX Master eq and Elysia compressor.
Any advice for your fans on how to make it in today’s fast paced game?
Follow your feeling, work, work, work hard and never give up!
