The Interview

1) What inspired you to make these tracks?

At the time of putting the EP together, I just felt like doing something I have never done before and it was just as I left London to move to the Welsh countryside and I was really getting to grips with producing as a solo artist. ‘Inside You’ was the first to track I produced and I sent it over to Sonny Fodera who was really vibing the track but was also very interested to hear more, so with that in mind I produced ‘Want You’ especially with his label Beatdown in mind. It was great to put an EP together that showed off two different styles to my productions, one strictly for the dancefloor and the other for the deeper side of house.

2) What DAW did you use to make this EP?

Primarily Logic, although both records were made in two different versions. The lead track ‘I Want You’ was produced in Logic X whilst my collaboration with Sam Cannon ‘Inside You’ was produced in Logic Pro 9. I really enjoy using the latest version of Logic, for me I seem to be able to get more ideas down within it compared to previous editions but then again that could just be an experience thing.

3) What is your favourite plug in/VST at the moment?

Trilian, total bass module. So many great bass sounds in this VST.

4) What is your favourite track to play right now?

SecondCity “Wanna Feel” Such an uplifting record with a killer bassline to dance, I’m sure that it will cause a stir in Miami, Ibiza and beyond!

5) Which producers are you feeling at this point in time?

I pretty much can’t get enough of the classic house sound that MK has brought back to the table, hugely influential producer and we have a lot to thank him for at this current moment in the rise of House music. Again, hugely influential, I’ve been vibing off Grant Nelson’s beats since I got involved in house music and of course Sonny Fodera, the man is on fire!

6) What is your favourite track on Beatdown Music?

Husky’s Bobbin’ Head Pass on his collaboration with Dave Mayer and Dutchian Soul ‘Without You’ is my favourite current record but digging back through the vaults I have to say that I still get goosebumps from listening to ‘The One’ by Sonny Fodera, funky Beach House vibes!

7) What do you like to do with your spare time/days off?

I honestly do not have much time off what with running my own label Discopolis, producing music and touring as a DJ across the world, similar to Sonny I guess! However when I do have time, and you have to make the time, I spend it with my wife and family, there’s nothing I love more than a good old fashion Sunday lunch at my parents house!

8) And finally what is the craziest thing that has happened at one of your gigs?

A guy in Malaysia was wearing a T-Shirt with my face on, thanks but why would you even do that?
