Get to Know: Hedonism

With Hedonism’s DEEP & DIRTY IBIZA compilation out now on Traxsource. Label head honcho Simion sits down with us & gives us some insight into his label, what keeps him motivated & more. Get to Know: Hedonism.

1. Thanks so much for chatting with us, please give us a brief bio about the label and it’s beginnings.

We established Hedonism Music in 2013. The first single release was an amazing tune by “Imany”, called “You Will Never Know”, with outstanding remixes by Miguel Campbell, Oliver Dollar and Phonique. After that, we came up with exclusive remixes of Ben Pearce club anthem “What I Might Do” by Kolombo and Simion. This remix was the very first release of Hedonism founder Simion. He has also released his two singles “U+I” and “Why Don’t You Say” on the label. We’ve got many international remixers like Miguel Campbell, Oliver Dollar, Kolombo, Darius Syrossian, Betoko, Paul C and Paolo Martini and Johannes Brecht. The upcoming release is going to be Simion’s follow up: the brand new Betoko edits of “Why Don’t You Say”.

2. What’s the imprint’s musical direction, mission, and overall goal?

The musical direction is deep techy House music with beautiful vocals and sophisticated remixes. Our mission is to combine this music with a hedonistic way of life. We want to create something unique which makes all the music lovers out there happy and give them these hedonistic feelings.

3. Describe running a record label today – what keeps you motivated?

First of all the love to music. That’s simple, but it keeps us motivated every day. Also the thing that it will never get boring, because there all always new genres and styles coming over or leaving, so you have to be always up-to-date with the newest trends and everything.

4. How do you A&R a record for the label, what are you listening for?

We get a lot of demos. We are listening for nice vocals, deep and or techy backings and sophisticated tunes.

5. What’s next for 2015 and what’s coming up that we should look out for on the label?

First we’ll come out with the Betoko Edits of Simion’s “Why Don’t You Say” on June 5th. Then and afterwards Betoko is going to release his next single including remixes by Johannes Brecht and Third Son.
