Bug Records Artist DJ Fen In 5 Records

Though London DJ Fen has covered a lot of ground in the music industry over the past 23 years, his passion is still strong! Starting with DJ’ing at 13 years old and then putting on his own nights (in 1992) called ‘Global House’, Fen has become a prolific DJ and Producer over his career. Still part of the legendary DJ/production duo ‘Ramsey & Fen’ ( household names for the last 21 years), both can currently be heard across the UK in clubland. Responsible for producing and remixing some of the biggest Garage anthems in the scene including Robbie Craig – ‘Special’ & Somore ‘I refuse’, they have also mixed high-profile Garage compilations such as “Garage Nation” and the 3rd volume of the “Locked On” series.

Today Fen still turns his hand to all aspects of music, from running Bug Records, presenting a radio show and producing House and Garage music. His first ever solo project as ‘DJ Fen’ entitled ‘Club Dubs Part 1’ is out now Exclusively on Traxsource. This was an ideal time get some history and discuss 5 important trax from the illustrious Ramsey & Fen catalogue that help build their reputation and solidified their names as one of the UK’s most prolific UK Garage/House production teams.

Big Baby.

My first official release back in 1995 and featuring Kym Mazelle on vocals. It helped shape our musical sound and also the UK Garage sound of the future.

Style.

This was the first release on Bug Records. The buzz on the streets was amazing even before the track came out. We had pre-orders for this, our first release, and we are talking in the thousands. HAPPY DAYS…

Love Bug.

When we went into our studio that day, we decided to make a cross-over track as our main focus for our music was clubland. With that in mind we thought we would do the track based on BUG Records, hence the title LOVE BUG (BUG stands for “British Underground Grooves”). I would like to think we achieved our goal.

I Refuse.

One of my favourite underground tracks from the mid-nineties and we were privileged to be asked to remix it.

Favourite Part Of Me.

Richard, the vocalist on this track, has worked with us over the years and is not only a great vocalist but also a good friend. He sung on our first release and this track proved again to be massive as it was signed to a major.
