Firstly, thanks for taking the time out to chat with us. Tell us where you are and how you are feeling right now.
We’re all in our studio at the moment working on our new album, but now taking a bit of time out to chat to the fam that is Traxsource. Overall we’re feeling inspired, feeling creative and very excited to be releasing a new album this year!
Obviously, the topic for today is the ‘SuKasi Remix EP’. Give us some background on how the project came to be and what you were trying to convey to your listeners…
It’s a build up to our main album coming out later this year. The EP is all about the incredible talent we have out here in South Africa and to expose the richness and depth of our production. It’s a remix project where some of the best and most promising producers have the opportunity to grace their talent on one of our existing original tracks. It’s really for the DJ’s out there and deep soulful House lovers. There’s some seriously flaming records on this EP.
Where does your artist name Mi Casa emanate from, what’s its meaning & why did you choose it?
Mi Casa means my house. We’re doing House Music and our interpretation of this beautiful genre. We also wanted to create a brand that made people feel welcome and a part of the success. You know we’re nothing without people, so we can’t act as if the reason why we so successful is because we are so incredibly talented. We are nothing without people, so in Latin culture when you say “Mi Casa es su Casa”, You are saying my house is your house, make yourself comfortable. That’s what we want people to feel when they hear our music and meet the band or come out to one of our shows.
What are your personal favorites from the ‘SuKasi Remix EP’ and why?
We did a legendary collaboration with Ladysmith Black Mambazo, who are 4 time Grammy award winners, but what Mobi Dixon did to the track is CRAZY.
One of our favorites originals is a track currently tearing up the dance floor this side of the world. It’s called “Your Body”, but man, Da Capo did it justice! Honestly, the whole EP is banging!
What’s the best business decision you’ve made in your music career?
Trying to make sure that everything we do, we own. It motivates you that much more.
Share a few artists that have influenced your sound?

No doubt the live element. We are a live band, full of energy and African flavor. Its a must see. We do come alive with the keys, the trumpet, the live soulful vocals, bass guitar, live percussion and saxophone. Its incredible!
