Jesse Rose Defines His House For Defected Records
Ahead of his upcoming In The House gig at Amnesia in Ibiza, Defected Records ask Made To Play founder Jesse Rose, which five tracks from his collection defines his ‘house’.
THE RECORD THAT GOT ME INTO DANCE MUSIC
Fix – Flash
When I was thirteen I was living in London and only really listening to Hip-Hop and Drum & Bass. I thought House and Techno was really uncool and it didn’t interest me at all. Then I heard Fix ‘Flash’ produced by Orlando Voorn and the rest, as they say, is history. From that moment I went deep into Detroit techno.
THE FIRST HOUSE RECORD I EVER BOUGHT
Hardrive – Deep Inside
This was the first house track I ever bought. I got the chance to remix it some years later, so it’s always in my sets in one form or another. To be honest nothing beats the original, it has so few elements but all of them are absolutely perfect.
THE RECORD THAT CHANGED MY LIFE
Jesse Rose – A-Sided
This track came out ten years ago and quite literally changed my life, very quickly. I went from a local warm-up DJ to a travelling international DJ in a matter of weeks. It was a crazy and rapid transition. It’s the reason I started my A-SIDED label this year.
THE RECORD THAT CONTINUES TO INSPIRE ME
Donnell Rush – Perfect Day For Company
This was produced by Mood II Swing’s Lem Springsteen and Louie Vega. When I’m recording vocals this is always the performance I’m trying to get. No bullshit, straight from the soul. It’s a record I play only when the party has been amazing. I used to pretty much play it every time I finished my set at Panorama Bar.
THE RECORD I WISH I HAD MADE
Isloee – Brazil.com
It’s been in my top five tracks of all time since I first heard it many years ago… no idea how someone comes up with a track like this. I always want to be original with the records I make and this sounds like nothing done before or after, it’s unique.
Don’t forget, you can catch Jesse tonight (June 30th) for the Defected In The House Party @ Amnesia Ibiza
