In the beginning, there was Jack, and Jack had a groove. And from this groove came the groove of all grooves. Amen! Check out our opinion on the top 20 Jackin’ house artists of 2015 so far, which feature a few names you may or may not have heard of, but who all come correct with the right underground credentials.
Owner of the Craniality Sounds label, 2015 has been a great year so far for B.Jink. Firing out some seriously jackin’ flavours, our boy from Missouri has had releases on Disco Balls and Sugar Shack, though the standout for us so far this year was ‘Sweet Daddy’ on Greenhouse Recordings.
Hailing from Birmingham in the UK, Hapkido has had his foot firmly to the pedal so far this year. With a sweet selection of releases on Sugar Shack, Jack Locker, Body Movin’ and Greenhouse, standout for us was ‘The Deeper Side EP’ on emby. 4 jackin’ tracks each of supreme quality, this was by far one of our favourite releases in the genre for 2015 so far.
Chicago born Alex Herrera has really upped his game so far this year. With an array of amazing releases on Crude Trax, Whitebeard Recordings and Symphonic, we loved the filtered disco soul of ‘I’ve Got The Place’ on Fogbank. We look forward to more big things from Alex in the rest of the year.
Romanian born Manuel M. a.k.a. Chemars, has had a very impressive 2015 so far. With releases already this year on the likes of Pocket Jacks and True House LA, it was ‘More and More’ on his own imprint Ginkgo Music that really stood out for us. The perfect example of how funky a jackin’ track can be!
Originally from Chicago, LA resident Ryan Truman has had a truly prolific 2015 so far with releases on Lingo, Greenhouse and his own imprint, Subcommittee Recordings. We loved the ‘Talk the Talk EP’ on Doin’ Work Records which featured 2 slabs of seriously sexy jackin’ house vibes.
California’s Arturo Garces has had a prolific 2015 so far and the releases continue to fly out. Tracks on Oomph, Kolour and Magnetic Recordings cemented his place on our list, but we really loved his ‘Looking for Strangers’ on Robsoul. A proper jackin 4-tracker with old school garage flavours, this is one EP you don’t want to miss out on.
Straight Outta Hungary, Disco Ball’z has continued to release seriously high quality tracks across all three of his own imprints in 2015 so far. The big boss man of Deep Wibe, Not Fashion Group and High Price Records, our standout moment was ‘Rollin’ On’ which featured on Greenhouse Recordings. Bass heavy, main room business that has been filling floors from Budapest and beyond.
Croatia’s very own Topa has fired out some serious heat so far this year. With a slew of releases on his own label Body Movin’ alongside Pocket Jacks and Concrete Digital Music, we simply loved his ‘Got No Money’ track on Fogbank. A real modern twist on some seriously chopped up disco samples. Straight fire!
Jay Vegas’ twisted jackin’ flavours have been a real hit so far in 2015. With releases on Guesthouse, City Sound and InStereo Recordings, it was ‘Bad Behaviour’ in August on his own label Hot Stuff that really caught our attention. A jackin’ hip house flavored floor filler that guaranteed club carnage every time.
Chicago DJ/producer Doc Link has smashed up 2015 so far and we can’t wait to see what else he has in store for us for the rest of the year. His own label ‘Modulate Goes Digital’ continued to hold it down this year, as Doc also fired out house bullets through Doin’ Work, Seven Records, Cabbie Hat and True House LA. Standout for us though was ‘Getting’ Nasty’ on Modulate Goes Digital. Serious vibes.
One of Scotland’s favorite exports, DJ/producer Housego has enjoyed a great year so far. In 2015 alone, he has released a series of seriously jackin’ tracks on Seventy Four, Caliber Sounds, Greenhouse and House Call Records. Our pick of the bunch was ‘L.A. Night’ on Emby; a really classy, funk driven affair that drove the dance floors wild on its July release.
A powerful year so far from Ed The Spread, who has consistently thrown down the jackin’ gauntlet with a slew of heavy tracks in 2015. With releases on Guesthouse, Juiced Music and Doin’ Work Record, we loved ‘The Expression EP’ on Cabbie Hat Recordings. 3 completely different tracks featuring really unique samples. Totally individual to anything else in 2015 so far.
Macedonia’s very own Alek Soltirov came correct this year. With releases on Good For You, Nite Grooves, Pocket Jacks and True House LA in 2015 so far, it was his track ‘Something Like This’ on Fogbank that really stood out for us. Picking up support from the likes of Joey Negro, Angelo Ferreri and DJ Mes, this solid slice of jack infused funk dominated dance floors upon its release in May.
One of the jackin’ house scene’s busiest producers, Delgado’s music has gone from strength to strength so far this year. In 2015 alone, he has released some seriously sonic soundwaves on Deep Down, UHHQ, Area 94 and Phuture Wax, though the standout for us was ‘Awws Sh*t’ on Monkey Junk. Real house music with proper old school sensibilities.
Dutch producer Tommy Largo needs no introduction to those with a discerning ear for all things jackin’. 2015 has been a great year so far for Tommy, with releases on Zooted and Booted, Lost My Dog and a series of top tracks on his own imprint, Deepjacking Records. It was from the imprint that we fell in love with Tommy’s ‘Dedication EP’; a proper 3-tracker dripping in jackin’ house goodness.
Boston based Italian J Paul Getto and his sublime Fogbank label, have totally been keepin’ it real in 2015 so far. Pounding out releases on Guesthouse, Monster Disco, Magnetic and Slow Roast, we were head over heels for his remix of Kenny Summit’s ‘Lemonade Was a Popular Drink’ on Good For You Records. Pure jackin’ jazz vibes!
Norwegian export Ruben Naess needs no introduction on the house circuit, particularly after his slew of releases so far 2015. With bullets on Oslo Karma, Lofrequency and Fett, it was the deep funk on the ‘Coming Home EP’ on his own label Pocket Jacks Trax that really caught our attention this year. Absolutely sublime.
Demuir has absolutely killed it in 2015 so far. Offering a consistent level of output quality throughout the year on labels like On Air, Select Case, Mikita Skyy and Great Lakes Audio, it was ‘Maufaka EP’ on Doin’ Work Records that slayed us here at Traxsource. Picking up support from the likes of Mark Farina and Disco Ball’z, this EP destroyed dance floors worldwide on it’s July release.
There’s been no stopping Grin Music’s Demarkus Lewis so far this year, with a plethora of top quality releases on Toolroom, Doin’ Work, Manyoma, Lost My Dog and Forest Walker Records. We absolutely loved ‘Ill Behavior’ on Fogbank, but it was really hard to pick a standout track amongst so many gems in 2015 so far.
Italian Angelo Ferreri has had a tremendous 2015 so far and has really spread his wings musically across the globe. With release after release of absolute fire on labels such as Fogbank, Sea of Sand, Bid Muzik, Deep Wibe Industry, High Price and My Little Dog, Angelo has been one of the year’s most in-demand producers.
We absolutely loved his ‘Magic Rhodes’ track on City Soul Recordings, which really showcased Angelo’s diverse and funky range of influences on one slamming release.
Angelo began making music at the age of 12 by using a Playstation as his digital workstation! This is where he first began to learn about how to create musical arrangements, before he turned his hand to the art of DJing. His first release was 11 years later under the alias of Alkaline and from these very humble beginnings he began to attract label attention in 2010.
5 years later, Angelo now has the house world in the palm of his hang with a string of high profile releases and support from the likes of Jamie Lewis, DJ Mes and Demarkus Lewis to name but a few.
Angelo Ferrari is everything we like about exciting beat makers who produce with their heart on their sleeve. His release schedule this year has consisted of nothing but tight, fantastically produced jackin’ house moments that make him the standout for us in 2015 so far.
