Catz 'N Dogz in 5 Records

The Berlin based Polish duo of Catz N Dogs have had a prolific 2015 so far and show no signs of slowing down. With a slew of releases on Defected, Get Physical and their own imprint Pets Recordings, they now celebrate the release of their new album ‘Basic Colour Theory’, which is available now on Traxsource.

We sat down with Grzegorz and Wojciech to discuss which tracks first got them noticed and other musical highlights as they explained ‘Catz N Dogz in 5 Records’.

Claude Vonstroke – Who’s Afraid Of Detroit (3 Channels Remix)

This was the breakthrough track for our career (3 Channels is one of our aliases) and one of the biggest Sonar records a few years ago. After this, we started our adventure with Dirtybird and Mothership. We are still friends with all these guys today and have already released two albums on Mothership. The vinyl 12-inch of this remix was on a Discogs for over 90 Euros a few years!

dOP – Sielanka (Catz ‘N Dogz Remix)

This is one of our favourite ever productions. There is a great story behind it, as we are good friends with the guys from dOP and the people from Watergate as we live just a short walking distance from the club. We invited dOP to our hometown in Poland about 7 years ago for one of their first gigs. They drove to Poland all the way from Paris; 5 of them in small Citroen! ha ha!

Catz ‘N Dogz feat. Monty Luke – They Frontin’ – Original Mix

After our remix of ‘Who’s Afraid Of Detroit’, this is our second biggest record to date. It was nominated for a WMC award and was played by a serious amount of respected, underground house DJs. The basic elements of the track were made in literally one hour, with the whole arrangment talking a maximum of three hours in total. Sometimes simple tracks are the ones we find are the most effective.

Catz Eats Dogz (Catz ‘N Dogz & Eats Everything) – Evil Tram – Original Mix

Collaborating with other artists and remixing is definitely something we feel comfortable with. Evil Tram is one of the most requested tracks during our DJ sets and Eats Everything did a superb shorter ‘VIP’ version that we always play out.

Odd Parents, Mp – Fame – Catz N Dogz and Martin Dawson Sweet Saturday Remix

This one was made with our dear friend Martin Dawson, who sadly passed away. The musical knowledge we learnt from Martin is huge. We worked together on the Different Marks album and hung out almost every day in Berlin. Words can’t begin to explain what a big loss Martin is to us.
