6 Tracks Ruling Ibiza According to Corbi

It’s high season in Ibiza. The clubs threw open their doors even earlier this year – Ants hosted a ‘pre’ warm up party on the 14th May ahead of Ushuaia’s official opening on the 28th; Amnesia opened 4 days earlier than in 2015. For the first time Sankeys existed all through winter seeing thousands of islanders partying at the venue each week.

So essentially the longer the season, the more weekends, extended party time and more sets for the resident DJs – that can’t be bad, right?! A few weeks ago I played at the legendary Pikes Hotel for one of the most hyped local parties on the island – Melon Bomb. Ben Santiago, Paul Reynolds, Scott Grey and Corbi form the collective and made their name throwing off-season parties over the past year. Since then they’ve had Space, Ushuaia and various other establishments on the phone and a tonne of new residencies in the bag.

Now that the summer is in full swing I quizzed one fourth of the Melon Bomb crew Corbi on what tracks are going down on the white island so far.

1) Harry Wolfman – Media Shy (Secret Reels)

Corbi: “Harry definitely is on fire, this one is a killer. It’s got the kind of groove I get lost in…..literally for hours.”

2) Danvers – Terrell (FINA White)

Corbi: “I know it’s on our FINA White label, but it ain’t half bad. The whole EP is very original, Danver’s knows his house!!”

3) Floorplan – Tell You No Lie (M-Plant)

Corbi: “Robert Hood is a basically a god in my eyes. Floorplan records are always infectiously funky and this is no exception”

4) Marcus Marr – Rocketship (DFA)

Corbi: “Been playing this for a while now and it always goes down a treat, immense production and perfectly arranged”

5) Laurence Guy – Wish I Knew (Church)

Corbi: “Laurence has a knack for making incredibly beautiful music, can’t stop playing this one.”

6) Corbi Feat. HYDE + SEEK – Cosmo (The Bricks)

Corbi: “One from myself, Binky from Hyde & Seek’s vocal sits perfectly over the whole vibe of the track.”

Anna Wall’s new label venture The Bricks launches with Corbi’s debut release ‘Cosmo’ – out 24th June on Traxsource.
