Mike Steva's 'Who Am I' Remixed by Osunlade, Louie Vega, Atjazz, & more
Yoruba revisit Mike Steva’s 2014 album ‘Who Am I’ with a whole host of new remixes! So much more than just a remix album, the 2017 version features offerings from Osunlade, Atjazz, Louie Vega, Seven Davis Jr, Mr Raoul K, Manoo and more. Each bringing their own signature flavour and breathing new life into the tracks. We just couldn’t miss the opportunity to chat to Mike Steva about the new package..
Hey, thanks for chatting to us today! Congratulations on the new remix album, you must be pretty happy with the outcome, what have the reactions been like so far to the tracks?
No problem, Thanks for having me! Everything has been positive and well received. It’s great to see something take its course after putting the project together with Osunlade a few years back and I am very happy with the outcome.
Tell us a bit about the album and who’s been recruited to remix the project:
I’m very happy to finally be able to share the Remix album with everyone. It’s a project that has been in the works for a while now and to have so many different artists that I respect and admire offer different renditions of your own music is total a buzz in itself!
Having people such as Atjazz drop a soulful fusion of Oasis & Resoulution, Seven Davis Jnr’s flip, Simbad’s rendition, Djeff’s and Rocco’s stompers are just some of the different directions that the album travels in! I’m also very excited to have artists like Mr Raoul k and Manoo on board as I have been a big fan of their music for a long time – of course Louie Vega goes without saying – to have one of the people you look up to as young DJ starting out back in the day, remix one of your songs is definitely a treasured moment! Big respect!
Any special shoutouts you’d like to make?
I’d like to thank Alex Barck, Anthony Nicolson, Arno E. Mathieu, Atjazz, Craig Smith, Dhundee, Djeff, Rick Wilhite, Hallex M, Louie Vega, Manoo, Raoul K, Rob Paine, Rocco, Seven Davis jnr, Simbad for their creative input into the project, and a special shout out to Osunlade for making it all happen!
What’s coming up next for you?
Studio time and finalizing the next album. I’m also planning to be on the road from May on wards, playing some shows and be based in Europe for majority of the year.
