Whats Hot This Week

1. Crackazat – Candle Coast EP (Local Talk)

After a killer track (Size Up) on Local Talks off shoot label OneOffs and a bumpin’ piano remix for Tony Blitz our man Crackazat is now here with his first solo release on Local Talk…the Candle Coast EP. All three tracks are winners by them self and its seriously tricky to single out any of them so its just up to you to choose your favorite cut. It won’t be easy we tell you ;) Crackazat is currently working on his debut album for Local Talk which is scheduled for 2014.Bristol native and musical wiz Benjamin Jacobs aka Crackazat dazzled us since the first time we heard him a few years ago on Futureboogie with his deep and jazzy electronic house not house sound. After a move to Sweden and refining his characteristic music profile you’ll now find hints of Floating Points, FaltyDL, Lone or Underground Resistance in his productions. Its dance + MUSIC at its best and something truly special if you ask us! 2. Fake • Remedy Feat. Leanne Brown – Closer To You (Husky Remix) (Discopolis Recordings)

After hitting the Traxsource Top 10 with his latest singles ‘If We Only Had Tonght’ and ‘Hypnotic’, Discopolis Recordings are proud to present the return of Husky to the remix fold and this time on the Deep House anthem “Closer To You” from Fake • Remedy featuring the insatiable vocal tones of Leanne Brown.

Fake • Remedy are an exciting brand new collaboration based upon the shores of the United Kingdom. Together, Moky Ezra (Former Pioneer/DJ Mag Regional & National Champion) and Jon Fitz (Herd & Fitz “Just Can’t Get Enough”) have already picked up some serious support from the likes of DJ Cameo on BBC Radio 1Xtra with their recent remixes of DKSF “Falling In Love” and Daley “Broken”.

Naturally after making their remix debut, the time has come for the first Fake • Remedy single to drop. “Closer To You” has all the right ingredients of a modern day feel-good House anthem! Alongside the unforgettable hooks and it’s flawless bassline “Closer To You” features a breathless vocal from Leanne Brown, formerly of the UK duo Sweet Female Attitude who’s hit single “Flowers” sold in excess of two hundred thousand copies in the first week of sales alone.

We’re certain that this one will cause a storm across dance-floors worldwide this winter and beyond!

3. Rhemi feat Cassius Henry – Beat Within (Rhemi Music)

Starting 2014 with an explosive statement, Rhemi hit the ground running with the new single collaborating with Cassius Henry. Taking their game further and not sticking to the norm, “Beat Within” hits you hard with beefed up drums from the get go and a bass line that follows that will be hard not to dance to. Cassius provides the vocal hook and delivers in smooth style, hypnotizing and drawing you ever more into song. In fine style the “alternative dub” is a great compliment to the main mix and has its own vibe and more of musical journey but still with that gritty dance floor edge.

4. Eli Escobar – Red Hot (Nurvous Records)

5. The Black 80s – Move On (Freerange)

Philadelphia native Hollis P Monroe is a man who has been slowly and steadily building a respectable catalogue of music since his debut on Canadian label Stickman in 1997.Philadelphia native Hollis P Monroe is a man who has been slowly and steadily building a respectable catalogue of music since his debut on Canadian label Stickman in 1997. Appearances on Josh Wink’s Ovum and the legendary West End label have all helped establish Hollis as a talented writer, producer, vocalist and DJ having recently been drafted in for collaborations with the likes of KiNK, Trickski and Rampa.

Here we find him producing under his new moniker The Black 80s in collaboration with Frank Julien, and following hot on the heels of a killer release for Compost Black Label. For their Freerange debut The Black 80s have created an expansive slice of deep, electronic house on Move On. The expertly crafted minimal production really highlights the warmth of the song and creates space for the vocal to shine.

Tried and tested by Jimpster from South Africa to Berlin, this is a standout track with that perfect balance of raw simplicity for the dancefloor and depth for longevity. On the Overnight Mix of Move On things tread in a more experimental, leftfield direction with filtering breaks and layers of dust and noise creating an abstract and edgy backing, complimenting the sweetness of the vocal perfectly.

Finally, we have Kollektiv Turmstrasse providing their own inimitable spin on their remix, fattening up the beats and adding more drive which builds perfectly to the breakdown where we’re introduced to an echoing bassline and finally, the full vocal.

6. Cupcakes – Queen Size (Cupcakes)

After the phenomenal success of their chart topping debut release %u201CYou Got Me Singing%u201D on Guess and voted the most successful Traxsource release of 2013, Groove Cartell return in 2014 with Samantha Mogwe on vocals and Spiritchaser* in remix support.

As always, your continued support in all radio playlists, download store and Resident Advisor charts is important and greatly appreciated. The KMG team.

9. FSQ – Zulu Congo Call (Soul Clap Records)

10. Mike Da Phunk – Tales Of Manhattan (PornoStar Records)

11. Phlash – House Phillerz – Phlash is back (Archive Records)
