Label Spotlight #030 - Layer 909

Label Layer 909 run by one of the UK’s biggest and fastest rising Techno artists, Phutek, has started to catch the attention of artists like Carl Cox, and Adam Beyer among others. This is attributed to the label’s “No nonsense driving Techno” motto, strong grooves, melodic vibes, and peak time energy. Label Spotlight #025 - 294 Records

Brazilian House label 294 records are responsible for putting out a steady stream of fresh, funky House records with that Jackin’ flavour. The 294 roster has seen solid releases from the likes of Makito, Angelo Ferreri, Hiva and Iban Montoro & Jazzman Wax amongst others, with releases being supported byt the likes of Robsoul Records, Mark Farina and J Paul Getto. Label Spotlight #024 - Daylight Robbery

Daylight Robbery records describe their output as ‘House Music on a strictly need to know basis…’ – And these guys and their tunes are definitely something you need to know. The DRR crew have rallied up quite a roster, from Jey Kurmis to Matt Fear, A Lister, Apollo 84, Vanilla Ace and Tommy Vercetti to ItaloBros, Di Chiara Brothers, Rich Pinder, Jamie Antonelli, Greco and Black Girl/White Girl, garnering support from the likes of BBC Radio 1, Kiss FM, Rinse FM and Mixmag amongst others. They even landed themselves a spot in Data Transmission’s top 40 labels of 2016 and we’re pinning them as a label to keep an eye on going into 2017. On the Tech tip this week we’re shining our label spotlight on Lupe Fuentes’s In the Loop recordings. House music icon, Junior Sanchez once claimed.. “Lupe was born to make music and be a DJ. Label Spotlight #021 - Beardman

This week’s label spotlight focusses on Mark Broom’s Beard Man. English Techno / Electronica don Mark Broom is a legend in his own right, sitting on almost 3 decades of experience in the music industry, with a career that spans back to the early 90s. His productions have regularly landed him spots releasing for Techno’s finest, including Blueprint, Ostgut, Warp, Soma and M-Plant and he’s remained a pillar for the Techno community to this day, especially in the UK. Broom set up Beard Man in 2009 to release his own productions and as an outlet for exciting new Techno talent, including the likes of NoizyKnobs and Patrik Carrera.

Since 2013, Criminal Hype have made it their mission to unearth some of the hottest House gems. Their impressive roster features lots of fresh local British talent including breakthrough artists Louie Anderson and Tuff London through to scene favourite Rich Wakley and Hot Creations Alumni; Pete Dorling and Jey Kurmis. International Tech House stars like Raffa FL and Piem have also made an appearance on the imprint and it’s safe to say that, with time, the label will only be getting bigger and better!
