This week we caught up with one of our favourite new school heads, the eccentric Brighton boy Enzo Siffredi to award him our latest label spotlight for his forward-thinking imprint Wired. Home to the likes of PEZNT, Sav and Little By Little, Wired is more than just an outlet for Siffredi and his friends’ productions, it’s fast-becoming an essential source for DJs to discover fresh and exciting underground sounds. Our Label Spotlight this week focuses on UK based independent label- DM.Recordings. The label established in 2011 & run by DJ and producer D-Malice has only one motive, “To provide an outlet for the world to experience the best electronic sounds with great influence from the Motherland.” Known for focusing on the upcoming Afro House talents, DM.Recordings have put out nothing but timeless music that has even caught the attention of one of the genre’s greatest- Black Coffee. Label Layer 909 run by one of the UK’s biggest and fastest rising Techno artists, Phutek, has started to catch the attention of artists like Carl Cox, and Adam Beyer among others. This is attributed to the label’s “No nonsense driving Techno” motto, strong grooves, melodic vibes, and peak time energy. Originally born in 2011 as a creative offshoot of Ralph Lawson’s famed 2020 Vision, in a golden era of deep house music for the UK, FINA is indisputably one of the most respected labels to emerge in recent years. With DJ / Producer Simon Morell & Corbi now at the helm, still based up in the vibrant, essential musical scene of Leeds in the North of England, FINA has grown to become a powerhouse of forward-thinking music, dipping into the deeper side of house and home to a plethora of talent including Move D, Rick Wade, Leif, Mam, Roberto Rodriguez, Homepark and more. We’re over the moon to delve into the FINA history with Simon for this week’s label spotlight..

Brazilian House label 294 records are responsible for putting out a steady stream of fresh, funky House records with that Jackin’ flavour. The 294 roster has seen solid releases from the likes of Makito, Angelo Ferreri, Hiva and Iban Montoro & Jazzman Wax amongst others, with releases being supported byt the likes of Robsoul Records, Mark Farina and J Paul Getto. These guys mean business and we’re stoked to have a chat with them for this week’s label spotlight!

Daylight Robbery records describe their output as ‘House Music on a strictly need to know basis…’ – And these guys and their tunes are definitely something you need to know. The DRR crew have rallied up quite a roster, from Jey Kurmis to Matt Fear, A Lister, Apollo 84, Vanilla Ace and Tommy Vercetti to ItaloBros, Di Chiara Brothers, Rich Pinder, Jamie Antonelli, Greco and Black Girl/White Girl, garnering support from the likes of BBC Radio 1, Kiss FM, Rinse FM and Mixmag amongst others. They even landed themselves a spot in Data Transmission’s top 40 labels of 2016 and we’re pinning them as a label to keep an eye on going into 2017. On the Tech tip this week we’re shining our label spotlight on Lupe Fuentes’s In the Loop recordings. House music icon, Junior Sanchez once claimed.. “Lupe was born to make music and be a DJ. She’s fire!” And boy was he right, the Colombian-born Fuentes’s unique style of tech-house with subtle hints of Latin flavour is steadily garnering more support on the scene and her label going from strength to strength in 2017. This week’s label spotlight focusses on Mark Broom’s Beard Man. English Techno / Electronica don Mark Broom is a legend in his own right, sitting on almost 3 decades of experience in the music industry, with a career that spans back to the early 90s. His productions have regularly landed him spots releasing for Techno’s finest, including Blueprint, Ostgut, Warp, Soma and M-Plant and he’s remained a pillar for the Techno community to this day, especially in the UK. Broom set up Beard Man in 2009 to release his own productions and as an outlet for exciting new Techno talent, including the likes of NoizyKnobs and Patrik Carrera.

Now almost 6 years old, the Nurvous imprint has become a taste-making label in its own right, housing a multitude of cutting-edge House talent including Krystal Klear, Get To Know, Louie Vega, Purple Disco Machine & Robosonic, Vanilla Ace and Lee Walker. We caught up with the boss Andrew Salsano to award them our label spotlight this week..

Founded in 2004, Terry Hunter’s T’s box Records is a label that strives to spread the true meaning of House music to the masses. The past 13 years has seen them work with the likes of Estelle, John Legend, Jennifer Hudson, Todd Terry & Roland Clark and R Kelly to produce a catalogue of Soulful House records that will stand the test of time. What better fit for a label spotlight this week!

If you’re familiar with this roster then you’ll already know who we’ve selected for our label spotlight this week. We had the pleasure to chat with Chopstick & Johnjon who are the heads of this independent Berlin-based record label, dominating the Deeper side of the House scene, Suol is a musical community that focuses on developing and nurturing a collective of talented artists and pushing out an output of Deep, emotive House records that never compromises on quality. We welcome Suol into the hall of fame this week!

Since 2013, Criminal Hype have made it their mission to unearth some of the hottest House gems. Their impressive roster features lots of fresh local British talent including breakthrough artists Louie Anderson and Tuff London through to scene favourite Rich Wakley and Hot Creations Alumni; Pete Dorling and Jey Kurmis. International Tech House stars like Raffa FL and Piem have also made an appearance on the imprint and it’s safe to say that, with time, the label will only be getting bigger and better!

Riding on the ethos of Good music + Good people = Good times, Sam Divine’s D’Vine Sounds imprint has grown from strength to strength since it’s inception in 2014. The phenomenal Carnao Beats remix of ’2 People’ [a Traxsource no.1 record] graced dance floors from here to Croatia and the rest of their infectious Garage-tinged-House-jam repertoire has been steadily following suit.

Global Diplomacy Productions receives our label spotlight this week! Global Diplomacy is Baltimore-based DJ / producer N’Dinga Gaba’s own imprint and plays host to some of the freshest Afro talent around, including Janice B, Groove Cartell and Kerri Chandler-approved Troy Denari.

An outlet for positive vibes and emotive sounds, South African imprint We Go Deep is the brainchild of producer Luka. Home to the likes of MzJay, Maya Spector & AfroMove, the label has steadily supported and fuelled homegrown talent over the past 5 years, providing a unique platform to discover music in a vast majority of electronic genres, dipping into deep lounge, nujazz, soulful, techno, tribal, electro and more. We caught up with Luka to find out more about the label and what’s coming up next for them.

Midnight Riot have built up a cult following over the years, with their ever-popular discography consisting of themed compilations, Disco edits and originals. The likes of Late Nite Tuff Guy, Ron Basejam, Kiko Navarro, Judge Funk, Seamus Haji, Yam Who?, Joutro Mundo and more feature heavily in the Funky, Balearic, Disco goodness and we’re happy to hand them a Label Spotlight this week.

‘Little Louie’ Vega is a man who needs no introduction to the dance music community. A godfather of our scene, one half of Masters At Work, a Grammy winner and as of recent – a Grammy nominee once again, it’s indisputable that Vega’s presence can be felt across the world. His own imprint Vega Records, features releases from Mr. V, Sara Devine, Anané, Victor Davies, Cerrone and Vega himself and we’re delighted to be able to chat with Louie about the imprint this week as part of our Label Spotlight series…

For this week’s label spotlight, we focus in on Moulton Music. Over the years, the imprint has been responsible for a quality musical output, spanning soulful, deep and Jackin’ productions that reflect the old sensibilities of House as a genre, yet encourage and nourish a new era of producers and DJs. He had a chance to talk with the label’s head Homero Espinosa about the past, present, and future of the label.

Still in it’s formative years, Sense Traxx began as a club brand in 2012 and has quickly garnered support from all the right places.
